What does it look like when AAPI history becomes a permanent part of a school’s curriculum, not a single lesson or a seasonal add-on?
Mirman School in Los Angeles set out to answer that question. Led by fourth grade teacher and Lower School DEI Coordinator Monica Sone, the K-8 independent school partnered with TeachAAPI to fill real gaps in its existing curriculum and give students a more complete picture of American history.
The result was a multi-subject integration that changed how students learn, how teachers prepare, and how some students experience school itself.
